‘Using Vs Partnering’ with a Recruitment Company
For many businesses, ‘using’ a recruitment company can be a vital resource in finding the right person to fill your next role. But, it’s important to remember that your chosen recruiter needs to invest the time, effort and resource into doing just that.
Given that recruitment companies charge for their service, obvs, it’s vital you get the best possible service from them. And that’s why we think you should ‘partner’ with your recruiter, and not just use them as a CV bank.
Take a look at our three top tips to help you get the most out of your recruiter:
- Talk to them about the role. Job descriptions only go so far, and they can be difficult to write, are outdated quickly and don’t always cover the nuance of a role. Ask your recruiter to review your job description. They read hundreds in their career and should be able to provide advice.
- Ask them to visit your site, meet your team. A recruiter’s job, in a candidate driven market (like we have in 2024) is as much about selling the role to a candidate, as it is finding people in the first place. The more they know about your business, the better they can sell to prospects.
- Salary discussion! It’s vital that an employer and recruiter have a discussion over salary. A good recruiter will be able to advise whether a salary is competitive, above or below market trends. We’re not suggesting that you raise a salary because a recruiter tells you it’s less competitive. But it’s good knowledge to have, and it means you can push the other benefits of working for your company – work life balance, holiday entitlement, benefits, team environment etc.
