A4 Plus offers a prompt, cost effective scanning service in a choice of formats and is known for their expertise in applications relating to drawings, maps and technical documents. Experienced with fragile, historic material, documentation is handled with the utmost care and consideration at all times.
We scan at a minimum of 200dpi resolution for good quality images although higher resolutions are sometimes more appropriate, whilst maintaining that important balance with file size.
Contract volumes can be as small as single “one-off’s” or high volume “bulk” orders, in a choice of; black and white, greyscale or colour.
Scanned images are usually supplied as Group 4 Tiff or a searchable PDF (Portable Document Format) and burnt to CD, DVD or uploaded to our secure FTP sites, or your own if preferred, ready for Customer download – please call us if you have specific requirements.
Document Scanning
Large format documents (A2 to A0 drawings, maps etc.) and small format documents (A4 & A3 manuals, specifications, administrative paperwork etc.) or the more unusual size drawings such as A0 plus. OCR (Optical Character Recognition) is a technique deployed to automatically convert hand written text on drawings and documents into an application of choice and is often used when scanning forms or questionnaires. Microfilm and Microfiche Scanning
Microfilm was seen as the future of archiving but is no longer easy to view and many Customers are now converting their film to electronic format.
Aperture Card Scanning
Originally used to store large format drawings, it is more cost effective, not to mention convenient, to convert these to an electronic format especially as expensive readers are now required to view them.
On-site Document Scanning
For Customers with highly confidential drawings, maps and documentation, which cannot leave their premises or if constant access is required, then we can provide an on-site scanning facility at the Customer offices. A4 Plus will provide project management, equipment provision and human resource planning as required.
Vectorisation / Digitisation
This service provides Customers with 100% vector-based CAD files in the format of their choice. Widely used in the utility, civil, rail and mechanical engineering industries for mapping assets or creating detailed component and installation drawings, where accuracy and interpretation of original information is crucial our “heads-up” digitization methodologies and vectorisation engineering teams are second to none. For these markets, and many more, automatic software vectorisation is simply not an option. Review Prices.
Data Management
Effective data management is vital for all businesses. Scanning drawings, maps or data sheets to a digital format offers significant advantages, including the speed with which amendments can be incorporated plus reduced access times and storage space. Just as important though is being able to retrieve the information – the right information, and quickly.
With this in mind, the indexing of each file is performed where large amounts of documents are required for retrieval. We index using a file number or alternatively, you may require more than one index field to your specification. We also deliver high clarity, fully indexed image based solutions to Customer desktops and provide low entry level costs into the EDMS arena.
This management software provides sophisticated searching and image viewing features which ensures Customer documentation can be rapidly located and viewed. It’s suitable for manuals, drawings, photographs, radiographs and microfilm in black and white, grey-scale and full-colour.
Software alone however doesn’t make a complete solution, which is why we provide guidance on document classification, organisation, rationalisation and identification strategies and execute them for you.
Please get in touch for a no-obligation discussion of your situation and requirements.
