Design Engineer (Inventor)

Royston

£20-£28 / hour

Temporary (6 month contract)

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager your job role will be to design the mechanical elements of engineering projects and support the build team with advice and prompt modifications as required, under the guidance of the project Engineer.   Also to support this by creating accurate and timely mechanical general assemblies, detail drawings and Bills of Materials.

Key Job Accountabilities
To undertake detailed technical design and development associated with projects.
To deliver the project hardware design within the time and cost resource estimates set by the Project.
To produce, control and maintain all required project documentation, including:-
Family Tree
General Assembly Drawings
Detail Drawings
Bill of Materials
To be responsible for notifying purchasing of all parts required on a timely basis.
To provide design advice during the build, test and integration of project phases.
To participate in design reviews.
To provide support on installation, commissioning and maintenance

Key Skills/Experience
A considerable experience as a mechanical designer in a manufacturing environment, preferably involving-:
Special purpose, precision automated machines.
Emphasis on robotics, materials handling and mechanisms.
Pneumatics, sensors and controls.

Ideally in high technology/life science industries.

Experience of working as a member of a multi-disciplinary project team.
Solid knowledge/ability in the use of Autodesk Inventor  including use of Autodesk Vault.
Able to use ERP systems to generate Bills of Materials.

Special purpose machinery development
Understanding of electrical design and control systems.

You will need to have a commercial awareness; be able to work within a team based situation; have effective communication skills and be flexible.
