A4 Plus Drawing Services Limited are a computer aided design bureau and technical recruitment specialist based in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire.  We are looking to recruit a Design Engineer/Drawing Office Manager with both 2D and 3D experience, e.g. AutoCAD/Solidworks/Inventor knowledge.

During our 20 years in business we have developed a varied client base, meaning this role encompasses a wide spectrum of engineering disciplines, although projects primarily involve mechanical engineering and design.

We have a small drawing office team and will be looking to the successful candidate to manage this team, whilst providing the required design/draughting skills needed to also undertake the projects as required, whether that be basic 2d draughting or 3D design.

  • Candidates will ideally have:
    An appropriate mechanical engineering qualification, i.e. ONC, HNC, HND or BEng.
    2D Autocad and 3D experience in the use of Inventor or Solidworks.
    Experience within mechanical engineering and commercial environment, with some supervisory experience.
    The ability to work unsupervised on a variety of projects, ensuring defined timescales, quality and commercial objectives are met.
  • Candidate Essential Skills:
    Previous experience in a design engineering role.
    Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Solidworks/Inventor.
    Bright and industrious attitude with computer literacy skills, including experience using spreadsheets, word, internet, email.
    Have a genuine interest in mechanical design and development.
    Be confident in your ability to manage your own workload/timeframes and that of others within your Department.  
    Manage drawing office work to ensure compliance by all to the companies ISO 9001 Standards.
    Be motivated and enthusiastic in finding out about and working in new areas, whether design or simple draughting, with a commitment to producing ‘right first time’ work.
    Able to communicate effectively at all levels, as liaison with suppliers and customers is an integral part of the role.  
    Be confident, flexible, adaptable and organized.
    Able to work on own initiative and to self-check work (be self-critical).
    Be an assertive, proactive and reliable team-player with a high level of accuracy (with an ‘eye for / attention to’ detail) and time-keeping.
  • Key Responsibilities:
    Manage and support the Drawing Office with draughting, detailing and design duties, to Company / Customer standards, as required. 
    Internal document amendments, artwork and administration requirements.
    Full use of Microsoft office packages.
    Carry out amendments, plan printing / plotting.
    Sending and receiving data electronically.

This position will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to develop themselves within the role and be involved in a varied array of projects/product design and development within a small, friendly working environment.

This is a full time position (40 hour wk) with 20 days holiday + B/Hols. Salary is negotiable and subject to experience (although expected to be in the region of £18 - £24K p.a.) although pay is on a per hour basis.
